Goodman Ranch

FallowFallow Deer have been imported from Europe to the United States in several locations around the country. They originally extended as far south as the Mediterranean and the Middle East. King Solomon used them to feed the King’s household. The Fallow deer are in the moose family so they have palmated antlers or webbed antlers.  Most of our local zoos will have Fallow deer in them and you may have seen some there. Our Fallow deer are not handled by human hands unless a medical emergency requires us to.  We let all our deer run and breed in the wild to guarantee a fair chase hunt. The Fallow bucks generally weigh in over 200 pounds on the hoof and the does will weigh in at about 120 pounds on the hoof.  The Fallow deer is a grazer, unlike Whitetail deer which are browsers.  This makes their meat much more enjoyable because of their consistent diet of green grasses. The three basic colors phases of Fallow are, white, brown with white spots, and chocolate. The chocolate is the rarest color of the Fallow.  The Fallow bucks lose their horns in early spring and will be hard horned again during August.  The bucks go into rut around the end of September and get a slight discoloration around their chin, neck and chest due to the musk that is created during the rut period.  The most desirable mounts are usually taken before this musking takes place which is in September or after it is gone around February. Fallow Buck Bow hunting and muzzle loading is a great challenge with these animals. We have a very mature herd of Fallow bucks on our ranch which enables us to offer many Gold Class fallow bucks for your hunt.  Our Fallow buck hunts are generally a 3 day/ 2night hunt with meals and lodging starting at $1995 and up.  We also have a healthy population of fallow does and we offer the doe hunts to help keep the herd managed starting at $495.  These prices do not include taxidermy, meat processing or guide fees.  We can also have the hides tanned for any of your trophies. They make beautiful display rugs.  We have several pictures of Fallows in our photo gallery for you to admire.
